Welcome to Kilmore Quay
Kilmore Quay is a small, rural fishing village, situated in the south-east corner of Ireland. It is located 22 km from Wexford town and just 19km from the international ferry port at Rosslare. Kilmore Quay's special characteristics are immediately obvious as its atmosphere and charm make a lasting impression. The row of thatched cottages make a strong visual avenue as the visitor enters the village. It has placid old world tranquillity emphasised by these traditional neat, white washed houses, most of which have stood undisturbed for more than two centuries. The Harbour has the added attracton of a 55 berth marina which in addition to the facilities available to the commercial fleet, make the harbour in Kilmore Quay a must for both leisure and commercial boating. The facilitiy of the marina has added a new dimension to boating along the south coast of the country, as it provides safe bethage and on shore facilities for all mariners. Kilmore Quay has a reputation as an angling centre that goes back to the turn of the century. Species of fish available include bass, cod, shark, tope, ling, mackerel, bream, pollock, skate and whiting. Kilmore Quay also offers the keen diver a fabulous location for diving, as the area from Hook head to Carnsore point has long been known as the graveyard of a thousand ships. Kilmore Quay offes to the visitors 'green' approach to its environment as many of the features so prominent in the area are dimensions of historical and natura lsignificance, Ballyteigue Castle, Grange Cemetery, Lifeboat Station, Ballyhealy Castle, St. Patrick's Bridge, Ballyteigue Burrow for its flora and fauna importance and of couse the Saltee Islands which are the most famous bird sanctuary in Ireland.
